4 Laws to cure mastitis (Encyclopedia of Practical Acupoint Therapy)2022-01-03
For thousands of years, in continuous practice, people have summarized the characteristics and functions of the human body related meridians and acupoints, formed a complete meridian system and acupoint knowledge system, and used acupuncture, massage, scraping, and acupuncture according to different pathogenesis. Cupping and other methods stimulate the meridians and acupoints, stimulate the body’s righteousness, and achieve the purpose of reconciling qi and blood, vigorous metabolism, strengthening the meridian, and curing diseases and health care. Familiar with several acupuncture points for disease prevention and treatment and treatment methods have many benefits, today I will introduce several methods of applying acupoints to treat mastitis.
Mastitis refers to an acute purulent infection of the breast. It is a common disease in the puerperium and one of the causes of postpartum fever. It is most common in breastfeeding women, especially primiparous women. This condition can occur at any time during the breastfeeding period, and is most common in the early stages of breastfeeding. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that mastitis is usually caused by liver stagnation, stagnation of qi, stagnation of stomach heat, and stagnation of milk. Treating corresponding acupoints can soothe the liver, regulate qi, promote qi flow, and relieve symptoms.
You can choose one or several treatment methods: massage, moxibustion, cupping, scraping.
Place the palm of your hand on the diseased breast, and rub the Rugen (located on the chest, straight under the nipple, at the base of the breast, the fifth intercostal space, 4 inches from the anterior midline), Hegu, and Sinus (located on the chest) clockwise. Lateral part, in the fifth intercostal space, 6 inches from the anterior midline), Wuyi point (located on the chest, in the second intercostal space, 4 inches from the anterior midline), each acupuncture point for 2 to 3 minutes, with moderate intensity, 1 time each morning and evening.
Take the Jianjing, Tanzhong, Geshu (located on the back, below the spinous process of the seventh thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches laterally), Ashi and other acupoints, and moxibustion in the order of moxibusting the acupoints on the lower back and then the acupoints on the chest and abdomen. Ask the patient to take a proper posture. Stand on the side of the patient’s body, and light one end of the moxa stick with the fire head aimed at the acupuncture point to be moxibusted, at a height of about 3 cm from the skin. Then the moxibustion practitioner holds the moxa sticks and moves them up and down, and they fall together like a bird pecking at each point, moxibustion for 5 minutes per acupuncture point. In the process of moxibustion, pay close attention to the temperature of the skin at the moxibustion site to prevent scalding the patient’s skin.
Let the patient take the supine position and disinfect the skin of Tanzhong point. Tanzhong point is an important point for the human body. Cupping at Tanzhong point can not only treat mastitis, but also promote lactation. After disinfection, prick the quasi-tanzhong acupoint with a three-sided needle several times, with slight bleeding as the degree. This step requires the applicator to be proficient in acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, so as not to cause harm to the patient. Suction the small pot on the pierced acupuncture point to make 5~15mL bleeding. After lifting the can, wipe off the blood stains and disinfect the skin at the acupoints. Once a day, usually 3 times can be cured.
Gua Sha method
First use the face scraping method to scrape the corresponding area of the back mammary gland from top to bottom. Then use the angle scraping method to scrape the Tanzhong acupoint on the chest from top to bottom, and then scrape the Wuyi and Rugen acupoints from the inside to the outside. The technique should be gentle. Then use the surface scraping method to scrape the upper limb Quchi acupoint from top to bottom, and use the single-angle kneading method to press and knead the Hegu acupoint, with a little harder force, so as to produce a sore tingling sensation.
